Buzz your booze! Cocktails with Science

In February 2017, our blogger Carmen (together with her project collaborators Luca, Koen, Latchmi, Joana and Rocio) organised an outreach event titled “Buzz your booze! Cocktails with Science” in Pangaea, an intercultural center in Leuven (Belgium). During the night the scientists used the principles of molecular mixology to explain simple scientific concepts (viscosity, polymer chemistry, hydrogel formation) and create unique drinks that people could taste at the end of the talk. This event was also founded by the European Project ISSFLOW, in which Carmen is working.

This workshop was titled “ISSFLOW Little Scientists” and it was founded by the European Project ISSFLOW, for which Carmen is working.

During this event the children had the chance to try hands-on chemical experiments on polymers, formulations, density and hydrogels.

Medway Postgraduate Research Cafe’

LogoFrom May 2015 to December 2015, our bloggers Carmen and Evelina (together with their colleagues Stefania and Filip), organised the Medway Postgraduate Research Cafe’ for the University of Kent at Medway Campus (United Kingdom).

The Postgraduate Research Cafe’ is a series of research meetings open to everyone that is still going on at Medway Campus. Each café features two 20 minute talks from postgraduate researchers from different disciplines, with a chance for questions, debate and networking over tea and coffee. This relaxed event aims to bring postgraduates together, foster cross-disciplinary networks, and provide a supportive context for research discussion.
