The history of nylon, since 1938 a polymer for many different uses

Nylon was put into the market for the first time in 1938 as a viable synthetic fibre.

Since then it has been used for numerous applications, such as clothes, toothbrushes, electrical equipment, food packaging, parts of cars, surgical sutures.

imagesIt is obtained from a family of polymers called polyamides, which can be processed into fibres, films or shapes.
